What is the challenge?

At 7am this morning, 13th June 2019, eight members of the Simons Muirhead & Burton LLP team took on the challenge of cycling from London to Amsterdam to raise money for our charity of the year, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), with a generous sponsorship from MBA Group and VideoSmart Ltd.

Over four days they will cover 496km and have been working extremely hard to prepare for the ride with regular group training sessions and a practice ride to Cambridge.

Nonetheless, there is some clear apprehension amongst the team, with Bradley having only practiced a non-stop distance of 50km to date. Nothing a little adrenalin can’t fix!

What is the challenge

What is CALM?

The organisation does vital work for the prevention of male suicide, the biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.

CALM offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf, with a particular focus on male suicide prevention.

How can I sponsor?

There is still time to sponsor the team through their JustGiving page, which you can do here.

If you have already sponsored, make sure you check the page for regular updates on the progress of their ride.

They have already smashed their fundraising target of £4,000, with all money raised going directly to CALM.

Who is taking part?

The team are Bradley Stylianou, Damien Yare, Imogen Niewiara, James Davies, Mark Soames, Martin Soames, Nikki Puxley and Prasan Modasia.

Here they are, wearing their new jerseys complete with sponsorship from MBA group and VideoSmart.

Who is taking part?

How can I support the cause in other ways?

Want to get involved in your own challenge for CALM? They have guaranteed places in some of the biggest events in the UK – from running 5km to a whole marathon, trekking the south coast, a mass sky-dive or, of course, cycling events.

Check out possible challenges for ideas and register your event here. Alternatively, to support the cause by donating, you can do so on this page.
